New Journal

Starting afresh!

Today started off a bit lazy. I don't have to be in the office until 10am every day, so my mornings are usually pretty slow-paced, but today I was beyond sluggish. I hit snooze on my alarm twice even though I wasn't tired. I just wanted to lay there and pout a bit before I had to get up and get ready. Finally got out of bed around 8:30am and proceeded to take the world's longest, hottest shower. Got ready and left home only to realize that halfway to work, I had forgotten my phone back at home and so I had to turn around and get it. THEN, I realized that I needed to fill my gas tank with gas, so I did that, too. Then I sauntered into work about 20 minutes late, but no one was here to reprimand me, so I guess all is well.

I only have to be in the office, in-person, two days per week, so I picked Tuesday and Thursday. These two days are the longest days of the week for me because I do not have nearly enough work to justify me coming in here. Hence the journaling...

I like my job but for years have been struggling with accepting the fact that I'm just another governmental cog in the wheel and that there are sometimes when I'm really busy and well, 95% of the time I'm just waiting for something to do. 2.5 years into this job and I'm still not used to that type of workflow, but I'm starting to get used to it. I've always worked for solo practicing attorneys (I'm a paralegal) but now I'm a paralegal in the state government for a small but powerful agency related to sports and there just is not that much going on in terms of legal stuff for me to work on. I guess that can be said for a lot of special positions in government. IDK.

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts as the day goes on and I plan on jotting them down here as that happens, so feel free to give me a follow or whatever. Or don't. It's ok.

comments
